Information . . . skills . . . knowledge. Can we ever have enough?
In this age of constant change, when information about everything seems to be growing by leaps and bounds, staying up to date with the latest administrative tools, office technology, and ideas about working successfully with other people often seems like a full-time job. One of my friends put it this way: just when she thinks she's figured out where it's at, somebody moves it!
As editor of The Office Professional, my goal is to help you stay informed about "where it's at" – and who (or what!) is moving it. I'm always on the lookout for new ideas and tools that can help you do your job better. In putting our monthly newsletter together, we scan the volumes of information produced every day in business magazines, books, and newspapers. We listen to what the experts have to say on everything from organizing your desk to getting your career on track (and keeping it there). We seek out inspiring stories of office professionals just like you and share the secrets of their success. And we distill it all into easy-to-read articles that are filled with ideas and tools to help you succeed on the job.
If you're already receiving TOP, you know that we publish some of our readers' letters and e-mail in each issue. The letters include comments about articles that appeared previously, but many raise fresh questions about business communication, human relations, management methods, and more. That's why checking the mail is one of the things I like best about my job – every day somebody writes in with a really good tip, a suggestion for a new article, or a question that we ought to research. If you have a tip, a suggestion, or a question you'd like to see covered in The Office Professional, e-mail me right now, while you're thinking about it. I promise I'll write back!
And if you'd rather make a suggestion or pose a question here, where lots of people can respond, try out the Admin Forum. It's a great place to comment on an article you read in TOP, share a problem, seek advice, or just introduce yourself. Let's get acquainted!
